DYSLEXIA & SpLD ASSESSMENTS - TRAINING - WORKPLACE NEEDS - TUTORING
I value the wealth of experience gained whilst supporting young people, parents & teachers, to overcome diverse barriers, whilst working as SENDCO/Additional Needs Leader in schools (mainstream and independent) over many years.
I hold a APC (Assessment Practising Certificate) and am a professional member of PATOSS and BDA. Most recently, I have worked independently assessing, training and tutoring children, young people and adults in higher education and in the workplace.
A personalised and personable service, providing expertise, with a common sense approach, to bring about positive change and release learning potential and lifelong achievement through education and into the workplace.
I offer free initial consultation. I am able to discuss concerns and offer support pre-assessment and post-assessment. I am happy to talk with youngsters, parents, teachers and employers to talk through questions and offer plans going forward.

"she made a real difference to the exam grades and students were able to achieve - with one particular able student's grade rising from a C to an A* at GCSE"
"the training she has provided has been exceptional"
"If only my son had met Rachel earlier in his school life..."
.
New rules for Dyslexia Assessment! Now a Diagnostic Assessment, carried out by a professional with an APC (Assessment Practising Certificate) can be used throughout their schooling and will be valid to apply for support and additional funding (via DSA) in higher education. At last, no need for another assessment post-16!
Have I got dyslexia? Has my child got dyslexia? What are Specific Learning Difficulties?
"Specific Learning Difficulties" (SpLD) is a term that covers a range of learning differences, that include Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia and also is closely related to ADHD/ADD and Autistic Conditions.
Every person is unique, and most people have "co-occurring" specific learning difficulties - that is, they may have strengths and difficulties associated with more than one SpLD label.
If attainment does not meet reasonable expectations, despite effort, opportunity and practise SpLD is often the underlying cause.
Early identification of a SpLD, via formal assessment, the more positive the outcome.
I understand that every situation is personal and everyone's needs are unique to them. Tell me more about what you're looking for, and I will get back to you soon with some ideas.
